Painting trim is not one of my favorite things to do. It’s right up there with painting ceilings. (Ceilings are worse.) For reasons I do not understand, the previous owners of this house painted the trim the same color as the walls. This is glorious, wonderful, farmhouse style trim and I had to right that wrong.
And so I did. The baseboards were also painted white.
Painting trim was the first thing I tackled besides little DIYs like the desk. There are a few more windows to do upstairs and then I can put down the paintbrush.
Aside from little things, we’ve moved into this house slowly. It took a few weeks for me to hang all the pictures and artwork, and there are still a few rooms with nothing on the the walls. We’ve been patient. Waiting to see what breaks first. Things always break when you move into a new place. Thus far we’ve discovered the water is terrible and the upstairs shower needs to be ripped out.
What is pleasant, however, is that it’s fall. My favorite time of year. There’s snow on the mountains. (This picture is from a week or two ago. This morning the mountains are covered in clouds.)
The ginormous cottonwoods in the front yard are losing leaves.
There is a wood stove in the living room and, a few days ago, we had our very first fire. It was wonderful but I forgot how much heat those things throw. It got a wee bit warm.
I believe that is the end of this Thursday Morning Report. I shall return next week, hopefully with more furniture. We are hitting the antique store this weekend and with any luck shall emerge triumphant.
See you later!
