I think today is going to be one of those days. I woke up at 5:00, and couldn’t get back to sleep.

Gross.

This was my view outside this morning.

Double gross.
Whenever I get up early, I’m starving. Eggs sounded nice this morning. I’m out of eggs.
*Throws tantrum*
Anyway. Seeing as today is halfway in the shitter already and it’s only 6:54, I thought I’d mention something pleasant. Last weekend I bought candles, which is not an exciting event for most people, but it is for me. I hate candles. I have a terrible time finding any that don’t smell bad to me, because I either have a heightened sense of smell or a bad sense of smell, I’ve never figured out which.
They are all from Colonial Candle, and I picked them up at a hardware store, oddly enough. They smell amazing. Clean. Fresh. Woodsy. Minty. Those are my favorite scents; anything sweet or reminiscent of food gives me a headache. Anything that smells manly is my jam. (Mountain Lodge by Yankee Candle* is my favorite man candle, henceforth known as a mandle. It is also the only Yankee Candle scent that doesn’t make me want to heave. Sand and Driftwood from WoodWick is also a fantastic mandle.)
I’ve been burning the Fireside candle this week, and when it burned down to the wick, I popped the wax out of the candle holder and melted it in a tart warmer. Heaven.
Also, Cedar Mint is amazing and you need it in your life. That is all.
I won’t complain about the weather too much, it’s supposed to be around 50 degrees tomorrow, so the snow won’t last. But for today, anyway, I’m going to whine and hide under a blanket and my house shall smell nice and manly.
Have a good weekend!

  1. I know what you mean about finding the right scented candles. There just seems to be an excess of terribly scented candles and I wonder if anyone likes them. I do have one given to me by a friend that I burn in December as it makes the house smell like fresh Christmas trees. A lovely, not overpowering smell.
