Okay, so the title of this one is misleading. ‘Around the house’ would lead a normal person to believe it’s about…you know…bumming around the house. But no. I am literally referring to the area around the house. I’ll shut up now.
The idea was to get the 4-wheeler out and take a spin, take some pictures. BUT NO, THAT’S OKAY. I’LL USE MY FEET TO MOVE ABOUT, LIKE A PLEBEIAN.

I like to walk around more this time of year, even if today that wasn’t the plan. The bugs are pretty much gone, the weather is cooler, and little things here and there are starting to change. Fall, y’all. The pansies are still lookin’ pretty good.

This beast is what I’ll be wrestling with shortly. All of this firewood will be in the basement soon enough.

You can tell it’s been sitting for awhile when there are ferns growing out of it.

There’s a slight hill next to the house, and a creature of some sort has dug a hole. I was a good girl and did not go stick my head into it to find out what’s living in there.

Dead mossy tree branches are always 100% creepy.

These next two pictures are just to confirm that it is, indeed, getting autumn-ish out there. Flannel. (Ignore the nail with the missing polish, please. The damn thing broke down near the quick and I had to glue it back together.)

Coffee. Cups, quarts, gallons, buckets of coffee. I’ll sleep when I’m dead.

Fall is my favorite time of year, and I am seriously looking forward to long walks in the woods, the smell of dead rotting leaves, mud, and not being eaten alive by mosquitoes.
That’s score-one-for-Wyoming, by the way. Very few mosquitoes, at least where we’re planning on moving. I would rather be mauled and eaten by a grizzly than be slowly drained of my lifeblood over the next fifty years by a million mosquitoes.
One and  done.
See you later!

  1. I've also noticed early signs of fall. The dogwoods are getting a hint of color in their leaves and this weekend will be a taste of fall weather with lows in the 50s and highs in the 70s. That won't last long, but it will be a nice 10 degrees cooler than normal.

Unfortunately, the mosquitoes are still around.
