Well, I was going to post this in the actual month of June, but then forgot all about it. Let’s roll on anyway, shall we?

First up is books 2-6 of the Nell Sweeney mystery series. I KNOW. Because this is a series, and I read the first book years ago, I will just link to the first book and let thee explore from there.

Still Life With Murder by P.B. Ryan. (Sometimes the Kindle edition of this book is available for free on Amazon.) I read this book years ago, really liked it, and promptly forgot about it. In June I read it again, and had to finish the whole damned series.
I do think the books decline a little in quality as they go on, but hey. They were still good. Murders, opium dens, factories, 1800s Boston, Civil War veterans, and a heroine that takes very little crap from anyone and can help perform an autopsy? Yes, please.

This next book….gave me feelings.

Of Beast and Beauty by Stacey Jay. FEELINGS. This one is a Young Adult retelling of Beauty and the Beast, and it’s a fantasy. So if you’re not into fantasy novels, you’ll hate it.

But it’s gorgeous. A blind princess with a murdered father, a tower, a city built under a glass dome, and a man with claws and golden scales on his skin?

That ticks just about every box on my checklist, thanksverymuch. And it gave me the feels, like I haven’t had since JK Rowling pitched Dumbledore off that damned tower. I thought this was a great story, and would recommend it to anyone that likes the occasional YA novel.

FEELINGS.

Anyway, those were my June books, and I have a feeling I’m forgetting a few.

I’ll see you back here after the (holiday, if you’re in the U.S.) weekend!

  1. This reminds me I need to update the list on my blog of the books I've read. I'm a couple months or more behind. I've not read any you've mentioned but I have been reading books lately that are outside of what I normally read and I'm enjoying it!
