I’ve got three books for you this month. First, an old favorite.
But I just didn’t love it, alas. I thought Jackaby could sense crazy supernatural things like ghosts and entities, not…fairies.
I think the fairy/banshee/etc. thing threw me for a loop.
And last but not least, this one.
The Heart of Everything That Is by Bob Drury and Tom Clavin. This one is a biography of the Oglala war leader Red Cloud.
Ok, so I didn’t love this one either. I love me a good biography, especially one of a Native American war chief, but this one just didn’t do it for me. A lot of the book is about…white folk. A lot of Red Cloud’s personality is revealed by his war tactics, but jeez louise. If you want a good account of what it was like to try and live at Fort Phil Kearny in Wyoming, then this is the book for you. I guess I was looking for a less war-driven view of the man. (But he was very, very good at the whole war thing.)
I do have two other books concerning war leaders I would recommend, so maybe I’ll mention those later. Any excuse to talk about my man, Quanah Parker, and I will do so.
See you later!
