Last weekend my husband’s family got together for a Costume Croquet (™) match. Who do you think went above and beyond the call of duty when the word ‘costume’ was mentioned?
 It might have been me.
When one already has all the accoutrements for a flapper outfit (minus the dress) what else can you do. If you ever find yourself in need of a flapper costume (a totally understandable situation to find yourself in) this is the costume I went with, from It’s pretty good for a costume, I’ll be able to wear it again in the future.
The other costumes, ranging from WWII to ‘Breaking Bad’ were also quite good. My husband had it easy; he threw on a suit, added a pocket square and a fedora and was an instant roaring 20s gangster.

It was a nice bit of silliness, even though I hate croquet with a burning passion because the stupid ball never goes through the stupid wickets. But if we ever do it again I am so  getting a dress that requires panniers.

It is my life’s single-minded mission to have a closet full of ridiculous costumes. ‘Tis a lofty goal.

See you later!

  1. Your husband has a fun family. We played croquet as children and never wore any costume other than Typical Kid. Your flapper costume was fantastic as was your gangster husband's.
