Last week I mentioned wrapping up some crafty projects that I had been working on, and this cowl is one of those projects. It was started in May and is finally finished.
I wanted a big cowl that could double as a hood. I’m not sure why I wanted a cowl that could be used as a hood, but that’s beside the point. And now that it’s finished, I love it. It’s exactly what I wanted and will be perfect this winter.

The pattern is here (free!) on Ravelry.  I hate knitting in the round and knit this cowl flat instead. It looked like a baby blanket until I sewed up the edge. (My Ravelry notes are here.)

It can be worn around the shoulders, around the neck…

…or around the head. Hood time, baby.

This was an incredibly simple knit – it’s just a big rectangle done in seed stitch. It’s perfect for mindless knitting while watching TV. This cowl was mostly knit while watching ‘The Good Wife,’ which I highly recommend. That show is a total rabbit hole.
See you later!

  1. I don't even want to mention the season that follows autumn, but am convinced you will be wearing your new cowl all of the time then to stay warm.
