A few days ago the power went out for awhile. In order of events, this is what I did for those four-or-so hours.

1.) I threw firewood into the basement. As per usual. It did nothing but rain for the past two weeks, and this week is supposed to be bright and sunny. That means firewood, yo.

2.) I painted my nails a lovely silver color. And the minute the first coat was on, I became ravenously hungry. So I made taco dip. Recipe to follow at the bottom of this post.

3.) Second coat of nail polish.

4.) I ate some of this too. After the taco dip, of course.

5.) And then I sat down to read a bit of this. I’ve read it a few times, but still love it. Highly recommended.

Notice the dog sleeping on the couch. Most spoiled dog. Ever.

6.) Then my sister called and monopolized my next 1.5 hours of life, during which power was restored.

Taco Dip

This isn’t so much a recipe as a method.

First, find a serving dish. Shmear some sour cream into the serving dish. You’re looking for about 1/2 inch of sour cream. And no low fat stuff, people. Go for the gold.

Add a packet of taco seasoning. Or, if you’re like me and don’t buy the seasoning packets, just throw in some chili powder, cumin, oregano, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir it all around, and spread it out evenly. If you are making a small batch of this, 1/2 packet should do. A full packet will do a cookie sheet.

Top with your favorite taco toppings. I used lettuce, tomato, onion, and cheese.
